Eco-Friendly Lamination Film Solutions
In recent years, the demand for eco-friendly lamination film solutions has increased dramatically due to growing concerns about the environment. As a result, Gif Products are excited to offer an eco-friendly range of lamination films, such as BioPP, PIR/PCR, Cellulosic Acetate, and PLA films. These films are made from renewable resources and offer several advantages over traditional oil-based plastics, such as being biodegradable, compostable, and having a lower carbon footprint. Additionally, these films are made from partially recycled material, reducing post-consumer waste and promoting a circular economy. By choosing these sustainable lamination options, companies can reduce their environmental impact while still delivering high-quality finishes to their printed materials.

BioPP Lamination Films
BioPP laminating films are a new innovation, made with 30% resins obtained from renewable resources of vegetable origin, such as waste cooking oil. Using these second-generation feedstocks in the production of BioPP laminating films helps reduce waste and gives a new life to oils that would otherwise be discarded. Moreover, it reduces our dependence on non-renewable fossil fuels and contributes to the circular economy.
BioPP laminating films can be used in the graphic arts and packaging industry, and they are made of polypropylene resins of the same quality as traditional fossil fuel-based resins. For every kilogram of BioPP films sold, 300 grams of fossil-based resins are replaced with bio-based resins. This not only reduces waste and dependence on fossil fuels but also contributes to the circular economy.
PIR/PCR Lamination Film
Gif Products has launched a range of sustainable BOPP PIR and PCR lamination films made from a blend of recycled and virgin polypropylene. These films offer an eco-friendlier alternative to traditional laminating films and help companies reduce their environmental impact while delivering superior protection and high-quality finishes to their printed materials.
PIR (Post Industrial Recycled) and PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) films enhance durability and appearance while reducing waste. These films extend the shelf life of printed materials, minimising the need for reprinting and reducing the demand for virgin materials. The production of BOPP PIR/PCR lamination films emits fewer greenhouse gases, resulting in a lower carbon footprint.
Cellulosic Acetate Lamination Film
Cellulosic Acetate lamination films are a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic films. Made from renewable resources like wood pulp sourced from PEFC-certified managed forestry, these films are biodegradable and compostable. They break down naturally into organic matter without leaving behind harmful pollutants or microplastics.
These films are durable and offer high scratch resistance with either a matt or high gloss finish, enhancing their aesthetic appeal. Cellulosic Acetate is produced using acetic acid, which is less harmful to the environment than solvents used in other synthetic materials.
PLA Lamination Films
PLA (Biodegradable Oriented Poly Lactic Acid) films are a sustainable lamination option made from renewable resources like corn, sugar beet, and potatoes. PLA films require less energy to produce, resulting in a lower carbon footprint. Certified as industrially compostable according to the EN13432 norm by TÜV AUSTRIA, PLA films disintegrate into CO2, water, and humus within six months under industrial composting conditions.
Conclusion
The introduction of eco-friendly lamination films by Gif Products is a significant step forward in providing sustainable solutions for businesses. By incorporating renewable resources and partially recycled materials, these films address environmental concerns while maintaining high-quality finishes. BioPP, PIR/PCR, Cellulosic Acetate, and PLA films each offer unique advantages, from reducing waste and carbon footprints to enhancing durability and aesthetic appeal.
By choosing these sustainable lamination options, businesses can effectively reduce their environmental impact without compromising quality. These solutions contribute to the overall sustainability of the graphic arts and packaging industries, paving the way for a greener future.
